Description

“Point Guard College is an intensive indoctrination into how to play smart, minimize turnovers, and be a good leader. These are great, great teachers of the game.”—Rick Allison, Director. Lone Star Basketball Academy, Arlington, Texas.

“I learned a ton at Point Guard College. I learned a lot on the court, but I got even more out of the sessions on leadership and confidence. PGC opened my eyes, and I got that love back that I was kind of missing last year. Just being around people who loved the game so much, it got me excited again."—Kristi Toliver, University of Maryland, First-team All-American and Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year.

Now, Point Guard College (PGC) is coming to a basketball court near you. And now players—both male and female—can reap the benefits from this intense training program that is regarded by many great players and coaches as “the best basketball training program in America.”

What makes Point Guard College so special? PGC uses classroom sessions, video analysis, and a series of unique, competitive on-court drills and games to teach individual development, smart basketball, and a complete package of leadership skills. That’s why, although most of our participants are high-school athletes, NCAA coaches sent more than 250 of their players—including four All-Americans—to Point Guard College last summer.

 What You’ll Learn at ESSENTIALS:

• How to Get to the Paint Against a Bigger, More Athletic Defender: Learn how to battle through contact, and how to create separation and penetrate explosively in the lane.

• How to Finish at the Rim with Consistency: Learn the three crucial reads and finishes that you need to be successful in traffic.

• Body Control, Footwork and Balance: Master the most important (yet under-taught) skills in the game.

• Point Guard Vision: Learn how to train your eyes so that you can see the floor and deliver the ball with precision and timing.

• How to be ‘Boss with the Basketball’: Cut down on costly turnovers, and put your coach at ease when the ball is in your hands.

• 1-on-1 Pressure: Learn how to control a pesky ‘in-your-face’ defender and develop the tools that you need to be a dominant defensive force.

• The Psychology of Excellence: Learn how to think, prepare and perform like a champion—both in practice sessions and during games.

• ‘Reality Check’: Discover the truth about training—what it takes to get to the next level and what you need to do in order to get there.

• The ‘30-day Challenge’: You will leave Essentials with a personal plan to transform your year-round training.

What You’ll Learn at THINK THE GAME:

• Becoming a Play Maker:
How to be a threat to score on each offensive possession, both with the ball and when you don’t have the ball in your hands.

• Make the Right Reads on Penetration: When to take the pull-up, attack the rim, change direction, or penetrate and pitch. How to get to the free-throw line three-to-four more times per game.

• How to Beat Pressure with Poise: The keys for beating any type of pressure defense. How to turn an opponent’s full-court pressure into fast break opportunities for your team.

• Defensive Pestitude:
How do you make your opponent’s star player have a below-average game? How to make your teammates more energized and enthusiastic on the defensive end of the floor?

• Shot Selection: Good shot or bad shot—how do you know? How do you get your teammates to take better high-percentage shots?

• Point Guard Esoterica: The things that players aren’t usually told, but that all good players should know: For example—How do you create time and space for your teammates? How do you control the tempo of a game?

• Leadership and Communication: How can you positively impact the work ethic, focus, and effort of your team?
