Description

Hidden Acres is located near Dayton, which is 50 miles northwest of Des Moines adjacent to the Des Moines River.

Core camp is the most traditional camp at Hidden Acres. It is offered to K-12 grade. Core camp gives a little taste of everything that Hidden Acres has to offer.

Campers can buy tickets to participate in horse rides and paintball during the week. They will also experience the climbing wall & zip line. The BB gun/ archery range is also a favorite activity. Counselors will guide their campers around our 660 acres during creek walks, games,and other activities.

Shooting Camp is a week that we have open for both boys and girls to participate

in. We desire to show campers how fun this can be as we teach

them proper technique and safety. The campers will shoot modern guns,

historical guns, as well as bows during the camp.

We have two shooting experts come to assist during this week of camp.

Mike Mittan, a Special Agent with the Division of Narcotics from the

Omaha area comes and teaches the shooting and safety of modern weapons.

The campers will shoot a 9 mm pistol, an AR 15, a variety of .22 cal guns, and more. Mike is a great officer as well as a man of God.

Also, Jerry Fastenow, AKA “Badger”, comes out to teach the students

about the history of guns. Badger hails from the Spirit Lake, Iowa area and is a collector of old guns, rifles, and pistols. He is a buck skinner

as well as a civil war reenactor. Each student will leave shooting camp with a gift that Badger hand makes that tells a special story!

At the end of the week contests will be held to test the skills the campers have learned during their week.
