DescriptionWe are located in the heart of Monona, yet our five hundred and thirty-four members include people from Monona, Madison, Cottage Grove, McFarland, and the greater Madison area. Babies, toddlers, grade school children, youth, and a good balance of adults of all ages (including someone who is now past the century marker), are participants in our congregation. Some of us have been a part of the church since before we can even remember, and others of us are beginning an affiliation with a faith community for the first time.
Monona United Methodist Church has been in existence since 1954, when a nucleus of interested people gathered at Nichols School. Soon the first worship service was held in a house on Winnequah Road. An initial group of thirty-five people became members of the new congregation and a year later the membership had grown to one hundred. Since then our numbers have steadily grown and our building has kept pace with ministry needs, outgrowing two previous worship facilities. Our current, contemporary, light-filled worship center was completed in 1995. The former worship space has been rennovated to create classrooms for a modern Christian Education wing. Our building is accessible, to both the worship space or classroom wing. Details
