Description

Camp Highland traces its early beginnings back to Lula, Georgia, 1993. As early as our first session, God made his purpose for Camp clear -- to lead others into a growing relationship with Him through high-adventure.  Under the leadership of our board of directors, the path for Camp Highland's outreach began to take shape.  Bill Chapman, director and founder, along with his wife Betsy and a small group of trained volunteers introduced schools, churches and businesses to the thrill of growing to know Christ through high-adventure.

In 1996 Camp relocated to the outskirts of Dahlonega, Georgia.  In 2003, we moved to our permanent facility on Carters Lake in historic Ellijay, Georgia. Our facilities include both a high and low ropes course, which are of the highest quality in both construction and creativity.  With the addition of the Drop Zone in 1997, the High Course holds something for everyone, from the first time camper to the Camp Highland veteran.  Our rustic camping facilities provide an adventurous home away from home for our campers.  The campsites have been divided into guys and gals sites, and includes shelters, showers and restrooms. Camp Highland rests in a remarkable wilderness environment that sets off our amphitheater, campsites, and challenge courses.

In 1999, Highland Day Camp made its debut. In cooperation with Northpoint Community Church, Highland Day Camp hosts over 1,000 kids during its nine-week summer program. Designed for kids age 5-10, Day Camp offers a mini version of what’s to come at the overnight Wilderness Camp. This exciting ministry offers a zip line, rock wall, ropes course and other similar activities. Counselors are trained to teach the kids about key biblical principles through these age-appropriate activities.

Our goal is to treat our guests to the thrill of a lifetime, while exposing them to teachable moments that lead them into a deeper walk with Christ. In the past seventeen years Camp Highland has been privileged to touch many lives through this exciting ministry, and this year promises to be as exciting as ever!
