Christian Youth Fellowship, Inc. was founded in 1946 by Alfred C. Thyberg. It was founded due to the result of a clear calling by God to ministry among youth and families through Christian camping and conference programs. In 1947, after Christian Youth Fellowship was founded, Mountain Lake Bible Camp was then started.

God miraculously provided 400 acres of choice property in northwest Connecticut, formerly the estate of John Barrymore's stepson. The 10-room 1840 farmhouse was renovated and enlarged to a 55-room facility which was able to house up to 100 guests. The 15-acre lake was developed into a swimming, boating and fishing area. Over the years, another pond was added and other buildings have been built as well. The main conference complex was destroyed by fire in 1978 with all its records. But God has been faithful and shortly after the fire, He provided us a new beginning with a modern new facility and a slow, but steady rebuilding of camper enrollment, staff and programs.
The main thrust of the program is to evangelize and disciple youth through summer programs, weekend retreats and other specialized events. Summer camps are staffed by volunteers from Christian schools, churches and our alumni. During the school year retreats are held on the weekends and throughout breaks by groups that carry on their own programs.
