DescriptionCamp Pegnita is an old fashioned day camp. It was founded in 1948, and has been dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable summer for kids age 5-15 for over 60 years. Activities include archery, arts and crafts, organized sports and games, campfires, cooking, gardening, hiking, and nature activities. Campers age 5 to 12 receive Red Cross swimming lessons every morning and free swim every afternoon in our on site pool. A special event, like a Luau or a show from Mad Scientist, is scheduled every week. Our counselors often return to camp year after year, and many of them were campers here as children. Usually our junior counselors attended our CIT program before being offered a job. Then they work along with a senior counselor for several years, and when they are old enough and experienceenough, they become senior counselors. We will also hire people with previous child care or summer camp experience from other sources. All staff members attend pre-camp training, which includes being first aid and CPR certified. Lifeguards are certified, and at least one of them attends a special course from the American Red Cross to be able to give the campers proper swimming lessons. Every staff member is required to provide a current Details
