In 1937 the Michigan Baptist Convention leased 22 acres from the Lake Louise Christian Community, a corporation established by the Michigan and Detroit Conferences of the Methodist Church, to hold and administer their Lake Louise Baptist Camp. The property comprising of about 3,000 acres came to the Methodist Church from Edward and William Horner of Eaton Rapids, Michigan. The bequest required that the land always be used fore religious purposes and the ministry of youth.
