Greetings from your Ambassador for United Mission in these days leading up to Christmas 2009!
We often think of Christmas as a time of giving—and it is. The greatest gift that God ever gave was given on that first Christmas, when Jesus was born and God took on human flesh. And the news spread—to shepherds, wise men, and beyond. Richard J. Mouw described the giving of the news by the angels in these words: “There was nothing under-the-radar about angels shouting the news of Christ to startled shepherds, singing at the top of their angelic lungs, probably hooking elbows and spinning around with each other with glee. Celebration! Adoration! Good news for all people!”
American Baptists are people called to help carry out God’s mission. God’s mission is why the church exists. Funding through American Baptist United Mission (UM) helps us to carry out God's mission locally and throughout the world.
United Mission makes it posible for each American Baptist congregation to join together with other congregations to do collectively what we cannot do on our own.
