DescriptionEarlham is a private, liberal arts college that emphasizes rigorous academic inquiry in a challenging intellectual environment. It is one of the nation’s finest liberal arts colleges, well known for the strength of its programs and the quality of its teaching. Earlham College offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in 40 disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields. Lilly Library is recognized as the nation’s foremost undergraduate teaching library. The student body is made up of nearly 1,1840 students from 46 states and 74 countries. In 2006, Earlham was awarded the Senator Paul Simon Award for Internationalization of the Campus. Quakers established Earlham in 1847. The College’s long-standing Quaker values encourage community, intellectual exploration, social concern, peacemaking, and service. Many faith traditions, from Quakerism to Islam and Catholicism to Judaism, are represented in our student body. Located in Richmond, Indiana, a city of 37,000, Earlham College is within 70 miles of both Cincinnati and Indianapolis, and 40 miles from Dayton. It has a wooded 200-acre front campus and a 600-acre back campus of woods, fields, and farmland. Earlham’s campus has 38 buildings. Nearly ninety percent of the students live in eight residence halls and 30 college-owned houses, many with international or academic theme. In addition to taking a class, you experience what college life is like: being away from home, having a roommate, getting to know students from all over the U.S.A. and often from several other countries, and participating in many extracurricular activities. We have planned events that mirror those offered during the academic year: convocation, community service, and an opportunity to learn about other cultures. Other activities, such as movies, off-campus trips, and informal study breaks, give you a sense of the social activites you might experience at college. Details
