DescriptionThis is the place to come! We have more kids and adults coming to MacKenzie Camp every year. We always have something new to make it even better. Last year we added a Ropes Challenge Course. We ensure safety. We hire the best staff possible. We ensure a quality program. We do not convert children, youth or adults to Christianity. We believe in a caring, respectful, intellectually valid approach to the environment and to each other. If you happen to find God, as you sit on the dock or in the forest, that could be the "rock" in your life journey. We hope you enjoy your tour of this site. We welcome your emails and phone calls so we can help you with more information. For our numbers click on "Contact" on the blue bar. In 1981, Alice wrote an article about Mabel Lake for the Okanagan Historical Society's annual report, in which she called Mabel Lake her "second love." She first saw Mabel in the Spring of 1936 when, as a substitute teacher, she was taken for a rowboat ride by Russell Large, the area's most eligible bachelor. They were married the following September, and their honeymoon by rowboat took them hiking and camping around the lake. The following year, Alice and Russel purchased the small tourist camp owned by the Kasses, which consisted of 5 cabins, 6 boats and a store on the beach. In 1958, when Russell and Alice sold Mabel Lake Resort, it had increased to 12 cabins, a fleet of 26 boats, a store which served the community year-round and an air strip. Those 21 years at the Resort gave Alice, Russell and their children, Helen, Hugh and Marjorie many fond memories and life-long friendships. Details
