DescriptionEarlham is a private, liberal arts college that emphasizes rigorous academic inquiry in a challenging intellectual environment. It is one of the nation’s finest liberal arts colleges, well known for the strength of its programs and the quality of its teaching. Earlham College offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in 40 disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields. Lilly Library is recognized as the nation’s foremost undergraduate teaching library. The student body is made up of nearly 1,1840 students from 46 states and 74 countries. In 2006, Earlham was awarded the Senator Paul Simon Award for Internationalization of the Campus. Quakers established Earlham in 1847. The College’s long-standing Quaker values encourage community, intellectual exploration, social concern, peacemaking, and service. Many faith traditions, from Quakerism to Islam and Catholicism to Judaism, are represented in our student body. Located in Richmond, Indiana, a city of 37,000, Earlham College is within 70 miles of both Cincinnati and Indianapolis, and 40 miles from Dayton. It has a wooded 200-acre front campus and a 600-acre back campus of woods, fields, and farmland. Earlham’s campus has 38 buildings.
