DescriptionRiver’s Way Outdoor Adventure Center is located near Bristol TN/VA on a beautiful section of the South Fork of the Holston River. The site is situated on 30 acres where River's Way has a lodge, staff housing, equipment storage and ropes courses. River’s Way was founded as a 501 (c) (3) corporation in 1993 and is served by a board of directors averaging 12- 15 members. River's Way receives funding from the United Way of Bristol and from the United Way of Russell and Washington Counties. River's Way was accredited by the Association of Experiential Education in 2007 and is a member of the Association of Challenge Course Techonologies. The mission of River's Way is: Growth through Experiential and Adventure Based Programming for Youth of All Abilities River’s Way served over 2,200 participants in 2009 in Project LEAP (formerly Adventure Incetnive Programs), Respite Programs, Summer Camps and Adventure Programs. Primary populations at River's Way are youth from disadvantaged backgrounds and youth with disabilities. River’s Way uses outdoor adventure programming and experiential team building activities to teach soft skills and build self efficacy. Programs focus on team work, problem solving, perseverance in the face of challenges, practicing listening skills and being flexible. “Relevant”, “fun”, “engaging”, “thought provoking ”, “challenging”, “encouraging” -- these words have been used to describe River's Way!
