It is no mistake this beautiful camp and retreat center is named El-Har, "Hill of God."

Camp El Har is a unique, nonprofit, year-round Christian camp and retreat center. This charming camp is conveniently nestled on 52 acres of wooded hills in southwest Dallas, near Duncanville, just off of Interstate 20.

Camp El Har offers opportunities for both day events and overnight retreats. Below and to follow is a wide variety of inspiring and exciting programs, events and features offered for our guests. Camp El Har is accredited by the American Camping Association and is also a member of Christian Camp and Conference Association.

As Dr. Harlin Roper and a group of Christian leaders prayed under a tree on a hill in south Dallas, they felt a call from God to found a camping ministry. On November 11, 1937, Camp El Har, “Hill of God” was founded on that spot. Early camp leaders envisioned that all who entered the camp gates would be ministered to by God’s word in God’s creation. The camp began to grow as the Holy Spirit led the work of evangelism. Camp El Har was the first independent Christian camp in the state of Texas.
