DescriptionWelcome to the website for Camp Parsons, maintained and contributed to by members and alumni of the Camp Parsons Staff. Any opinions or views expressed in any part of this website do not express the views of the Chief Seattle Council or the Boy Scouts of America. For official news from the Boy Scouts or to download any official documents, please visit their website at www.seattlebsa.org or visit the national website at www.scouting.org . However, if you want the real scoop on what is happening at camp, then you have come to the right place. All information regarding camp operations are up to date and current on this website including downloaded forms. Camp Parsons will be offering the Centennial Merit Badges but have not received the final word from National with regards to requirements. Once we have received those, we will update our advancement schedule to reflect those new instruction times. Camp Parsons is a resident Boy Scout camp operated and maintained by the Chief Seattle Council of the Boy Scouts of America. It is named after Reginald Hascall Parsons, a Seattle financier and philanthropist, who helped bring scouting to Seattle, served as the first Council President and who led the campaign that raised the money to purchase the land on which camp is based. Although we operate predominantly throughout the summer, the camp is in operation year round, with the winter months reserved for weekend camping and training sessions as well as our world famous monthly work parties. Camp Parsons is one of the oldest Boy Scout camps in operation in the United States today. We are the OLDEST operating camp west of the Missisippi and one of the few camps that uses an open water saltwater base for all scouting aquatic activities. Since July 7th, 1919 Camp Parsons has never ceased operation nor moved from its original site. Situated in the Olympic Peninsula on the shores of the Hood Canal, we have an excellent location and facility to continue the grand experiment that Lord Baden-Powell (who was our guest in 1926) began over 100 years ago. Please take a look at our History page to get a better idea of our past. Camp Parsons is a traditional boy scout camp which operates for nine weeks each summer season. We have an outstanding staff that come from all parts of the Pacific Northwest as well as the United States. Other than the traditional program within the 440 acre base camp, we also offer a High Adventure program with hikes into the Olympic Forest and Kayak/Canoe treks on the Hood Canal. Take a look at our Program and High Adventure information. Here is the Troop Application for summer camp 2010. Details
