DescriptionOur sleepaway camps provide the perfect environment for a first-time sleepaway experience, with exceptional staff members who are sensitive to the particular needs of first-time campers. Just 75 miles from New York City, Kesher and Kesher Junior are located at the New Jersey Y Camps, a 1,250-acre facility in Milford, PA, in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains. Children are encouraged to learn, explore and play in an atmosphere that awakens their curiosity, builds self-esteem, nurtures their talents and creates lasting memories and enduring friendships.
Children with learning and developmental disabilities thrive in Camp Tova's small group setting. Making friends and developing a wide variety of creative, social, and physical skills are the goals for Tova campers. Tova also provides campers from New York City with an outdoor experience and seeks to give them an appreciation for the natural environment. Children travel to the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds in Pearl River (Rockland County), New York on air-conditioned coach buses equipped with lavatories. They participate in a variety of camp activities, especially designed to foster each child's emotional, social, and physical growth. They swim each day and participate in a variety of sports, arts, nature, and other activities. On Fridays, Tova goes on trips to such destinations as the beach, a small zoo, amusement parks, bowling, etc. Counselors and specialists have a background in special education and are committed to providing each child with a positive and rewarding summer experience. Our small (approximately 4-to-1) camper to staff ratio ensures that each camper receives individualized attention. Details
