High Esteem's Camp Goodwill (HECG) was established back in 1996 to meet the unmet needs of children and young adults with physical disabilities and of special needs in the Central New York area. Our organization provides summer residential camping programs as well as year round activities for the these campers. Our main focus is the needs of these children and young adults as well as how we can help them enjoy life. We can not change the disabilities that our campers may have but, we can help them live with them and help them face their own daily challenges with others who face the same hurdles of life. We will provide recreation through rehabilitation. High Esteem's Camp Goodwill seeks to continually develop and increase access to a variety of recreational activities and events for handicapped and special needs children and youngs adults.



The purpose of the organization is to provide recreational as well as therapeutic programs to children and young adults with physical disabilites and of special needs along with their families. The organization primary serves New York but, is eager about expanding. Specific purposes of High Esteem's Camp Goodwill include, but are not limited to: making recreational activities accessible & available to handicapped and special needs children/young adults; Developing and/or restoring our campers' self esteem, confidence and self worth; Helping children/young adults with special needs to develop or enhance coping skills, self advocacy skills and other necessary life skills, in a non-threatening, interactive, recreational environment; Helping families of children through mutual support and supportive interaction; Assisting agencies that serve special needs populations in providing appropriate and/or additional recreational services and programs.
