Description
Girl Scouts of the Permian Basin council was organized in 1947 and is one of 318 Girl Scout councils in the United States. Our council currently serves approximately 3,500 girl members. Nearly 800 adult volunteers support Girl Scouting by sharing professional knowledge or skills with girls, serving as troop leaders or trainers, providing outdoor education, or assisting with the product sale programs. Adults who work with girls are trained and supported by council staff and experienced volunteers.
The council is chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA to provide services to Girl Scouts in 20 West Texas counties (see map at left): Andrews, Brewster, Crane, Crockett, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Jeff Davis, Loving, Martin, Midland, Pecos, Presidio, Reagan, Reeves, Terrell, Upton, Ward, and Winkler.
