Description

The Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley is located in the Warner Springs Area of San Diego County, California.  It is a wilderness camp with 1,400 acres of oak, pine, and chaparral, bordered by the Cleveland National Forest and the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. The camp facilities include: 22 cabins; two swimming pools; a two-acre lake; rifle, archery, and shotgun ranges; horse stables; mountain bike center; observatory; two handicraft centers; an Indian Village; and a nature center. Two dining halls, Beckman Hall and Casey Lodge, provide Scouts with meal service. Scouts can also choose to participate in High Adventure programs, with challenges ranging from climbing the sixty-five foot rock face to rappelling, black powder shooting, and High COPE.

After traveling the scenic ten-mile dirt road, Lost Valley appears like a mountain paradise in the high desert. Oak and pine trees surround the meadows and valleys that comprise the 1,400 acres of camp. The reservation abounds in wildlife and has many hiking trails so that those attending can enjoy the unspoiled nature of the surroundings. At 4,500 feet, the facility is available year-round for organized special programs and weekend troop camping.

In July and August, the camp hosts over 2,000 Boy Scouts, giving them the best in summer camping. During the rest of the year, thousands will enjoy the camp with organized special programs. Lost Valley summer program is accredited not only by the BSA National standards, but also by the American Camping Association.  All organized groups are welcome at Lost Valley. Arrangements can be made to fit any youth or adult program objective.  Schoepe Scout Reservation is operated by the Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America.
