Fly fishing brings many rewards, and like most traditions, perhaps the greatest reward comes from sharing our passion for the sport with the next generation. There is something special about introducing kids to fly fishing, or helping children develop their skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm for the sport. So for a third year, Orvis and PRO Outfitters will team up to offer a destination fly fishing camp for kids. From August 1-7, 2010, we will be hosting boys and girls ages 12 to 17 at our lodge on the North Fork of the Blackfoot River in Ovando, Montana. The camp will cover all aspects of the complete fly-fishing experience, and our ideal location will let us offer an exciting “hands-on” learning experience.
The kids will have the great benefit of a 2:1 camper to guide ratio to get the most from our personable, fun and very knowledgeable staff. With such a personal learning environment, kids with beginner, intermediate, or advanced experience will get the chance to learn and improve at their very own pace. Our aim is to send campers home with both the enthusiasm and the ability to pick up a fly-rod and feel comfortable and capable in any freshwater setting.
I would like to say that I found the care and attention of the staff to be excellent. My son gained a knowledge and love of the outdoors that he has carried with him and has truly helped shape him into the young man he is today. He has become an avid angler and knows that the experience is about a whole lot more than just catching the fish. Pro Outfitters is more than a summer adventure experience, it is a family.
