DescriptionFirst Lutheran Church began in Portland on August 24, 1874 with a membership of 53 Scandinavian immigrants. A lot on Elm Street, between Congress Street and Cumberland Avenue, was purchased in June of 1875 and a church was built during the winter of 1878-79. In 1956, with changing demographics and lack of space for the growing congregation, First Lutheran began planning a move to the suburbs. In May of 1960 the present building at 132 Auburn Street was dedicated. The Education Wing was dedicated in 1966 and the Ministry Center was completed in 2002. DAY CAMP for ages 4 1/2 - 12 years
