The Longwood University men's tennis team defeated Seattle University 7-0 on Saturday morning on Lancer Courts in Farmville and won the 2010 Independent Tournament, going 4-0 in the round-robin tournament. Sophomore Nobu Tanaka/Potomac, Md. (St. Johns College HS) was named the tournament MVP while senior Billy Heird/York, Pa. (Dallastown) earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Longwood ends the season with a 12-9 record.

The Longwood University men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at George Washington University on Sunday in Washington, D.C.. The Lancers (8-9) won one doubles match but lost the point and then won one singles match, with senior David Cardoso/Porto, Portugal (Externato Lumen) victorious at #5. The Longwood University women's tennis team defeated North Carolina Central University 4-0 and Winston-Salem State University 6-0 on Sunday to win the 2010 Independent Tournament in Farmville. Senior Mason Davis/Richmond (Collegiate School) was named the Independent Tournament MVP while senior Laura Simon/Barcelona, Spain (IES Lluis de Peguera) and freshman Marta Pinyol/Barcelona, Spain (IESM Ferran Tallada) earned spots on the All-Tournament team. Longwood finished the season with a 13-8 mark after winning the final three matches of the season.
